Brace yourself, cause I'm about to blog about Twilight...

Ok I'm not really sure where to start. I think the best word to describe my emotion right now is complete frustration. I can't believe I let myself fall into the Twilight trap but I have. Even though all of my friends have been telling me forever now to read the book and watch the movie, I resisted for quite a while because I was pretty sure I wouldn't see the light of day for a while if I gave in. Unfortunately, however, I finally broke down and bought the book last night at Target. I had put myself on a waiting list at the public library 2 weeks ago for the book (at #62 in line) and still hadn't been contacted. But who can blame me...it was cheap, and I was at Target...the place where my paychecks go to die.

So what should have been an enjoyable Saturday evening with the boyfriend turned into "Just the first chapter", then "Well, I'll quit reading when you quit playing xbox", and then "Oh hell, its too late now, just leave me alone!" At 3am I made myself go to bed, but it had just begun. Instead of spending my Sunday cleaning house, car, and laundry like I had promised myself I would, I finished the book. This should have been a good thing except for the fact that that trickster Stephanie Meyer put a "sneak preview" at the end: the first chapter to the second book. Against my good judgement I read it and now I'm pretty sure I will have buy the second book tomorrow. $#*%

To finish off my day, I rented the movie. I couldn't help myself at this point. But here is where I make my whole point and get to the reason why I'm so frustrated: Why can't movies EVER be like the book??!?!?! I will just never understand why they cant just take the book, and make the movie be like it! I mean its not like they have to come up with all new ideas, or a new script...they have it right there in front of them...the hardest part of making the movie is already done. I just don't buy the argument that if they made the movie just like the book it would be too long. I have a scary obsession brewing here, and I'm not even one of those crazy tweens who would probably pee in their big girl panties if Robert Pattinson looked at them broodingly. Who cares if the movie is 7 hours long!?! Not me! Not the real fans!

Rant over.

SXSW

I finally made it to some South by Southwest events! If you're not familiar with SxSW its basically this big music festival that is held here in Austin every year that people from all over the country come here to see. Obviously the events can get pretty pricey so I didn't purchase one of the all-access passes, but they always do some free shows and I finally got out to some of them. Saturday we went to an outdoor concert in Zilker Park and we saw a pretty cool show featuring Fastball (pretty old school), Beach House, The Cannabanoids featuring Erykah Badu, and Explosions in the Sky. It was great weather to be out, and they ended the show with a fabulous fireworks show behind the stage area over the lake! It was seriously the best fireworks show I have ever seen....way better than that crap they put on at Lindsey Park in Tyler.

Today we went to a guitar expo event - also free - and checked out all kinds of awesome super expensive guitars that I will never own. We did, however, score some really cool original band artwork posters from a poster show of some good bands...(Okkervil River, Spoon, Joan of Arc, and TV on the Radio). AND we are about to go see I Love You, Man, so hopefully that doesn't suck. It has been a really great weekend and now I'm sad that its almost Monday :( Boo real work.

Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger

One of my favorite tv shows is The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert. I'm thinking since my only blog friends are my family, you guys will at least know what show this is, if not love it as much as I do. Whatever your political affiliations may be, the guy is just a riot. That being said, if you ever catch an episode you might notice a little segment he does called "Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger"... a little rant and a little rave. I would like to start a little spin off segment of my own, but since I'm not clever enough (or have the time) to think up a name of my own, I'll just stick to his.

Tip of the Hat: This week...its puppies! I feel like every story I hear, every conversation I have, and every picture I see, is PUPPIES....which is fine cause I love puppies! I love puppies so much that I recieve a daily email called the Daily Puppy just to brighten each morning! http://www.dailypuppy.com/ Sign up for free and recieve a dose of adorable before anything else can ruin your day. Earlier this week I watched the AKC / Eukanuba Dog food Dog show. Weird as it sounds, I seriously sat and watched the whole thing. The winner of the herding group was the Corgi, which happens to be my new favorite dog. They are just so stinking cute with their stubby legs. Maybe I feel like I relate to them ;) I think everyone should go out and get a puppy right now because they are made of sugar and love and they make the world go 'round. Do it!

Wag of the finger: Bosses. They suck...end of story. I am only on my 4th job (1st one I consider a "real job") and I have already learned that bosses are generally out of touch, not the best communicators, and down-right weird sometimes. My boss in particular. If only they really knew what was going on with their companies and their employees things would probably go much more smoothly. Ahhh.....if only someone would make me their boss!

Stuffs

A few of you have asked to see more about the boyfriend, so here are a couple of pics we've taken recently. These two were taken the other day at the park...

(Its really a shame that I make this face so often....)

This one was taken before we went to this gala event this past weekend. The tickets were $100 a person (ours were free from his work friend) and it was a pretty swanky affair, so I worried about what I was going to wear for days. It felt like a very adult activity to attend a "gala" and I was worried I would look out of place. I envisioned myself wearing a long gown, but apparently they just don't really make those anymore: long is out, short is in. Who knew? Thankfully I was appropriately dressed to not look out of place in my new dress (from ROSS, thank you), and I just added this pic cause I think I looked pretty darn cute! According to my roomate I looked like a present, lol :)
